Apple Ipod 1 Gb
Following on the massive success of the
iPod, Apple hit the MP3 player
market again with the iPod Shuffle. These smaller devices (512 MB and 1 GB) are
attractive and have plenty of features that make them worthy of the iPod name.
The Apple Ipod 1 Gb can play several formats of audio and is powered with a
lithium-ion battery which gives up to 12 hours of playback time.
The "Shuffle" name comes from the random playback function that plays your music
in a different order each time. If you prefer some control over the order of the
songs, you can set up playlists or use the "Play In Order" mode. Either way, the
Apple Ipod 1 Gb gives you great audio quality. It features a flat frequency
response across the entire audio spectrum and comes with great sounding
neodymium ear buds.
This MP3 player can handle four types of music formats -- MP3, AAC, Audible, and
WAV. MP3 files can range from 8 to 320 kbps for a broad range of audio quality.
The AAC format offers similar audio quality to MP3 with smaller files so up to
240 songs can be stored on the Apple Ipod 1 Gb.
The player can also be used as a data storage device by connecting it to the USB
port of your computer. It supports USB 2.0 for speedy data transfers, and you
can plug the player into the USB port to configure your music collection. When
it's plugged into the USB port, the lithium ion battery gets recharged. You can
also recharged it with the power adapter which is included with the player.
On the negative side, the Apple Ipod 1 Gb has absolutely no display for
navigation or song information. It is almost impossible to find a particular
song, which is why the playlist function was incorporated. Another drawback is
that it is strictly a listening device -- there is no microphone or FM radio to
The price however is quite reasonable for the amount of memory, and the great
sound and stylish appearance may be enough to make up for the shortcomings.
